Backup• a copy of data made in case the original is lost or damaged
Our software "Ochre Online Cloud Backup", is a versatile solution to protect all of your office computers and servers. It takes an ongoing copy of your computers data and stores it elsewhere so that it may be used to restore the original if there is a data loss event.
Having a complete, up to date and secure backup of your data means that your business can be completely restored should something happen to your data or even the PC itself.
Using Ochre Online Cloud Backup ensures that your systems are always protected because I take care of the management and monitoring for you and all of your data is securely stored in the cloud. Locally stored backups can be managed as well, but having an off site storage solution is the best protection you can get, eliminating any on site factors like theft, flooding, and accidents.
Ochre Online Cloud Backup guarantees that your backups are secured and encrypted using AES 256-bit source side encryption, scalable, being cloud based it can scale with your demands, fast and efficient with scheduled or real-time backup, monitored and logged with email reporting back to you.
A backup of you computer needs to be put someplace so you will need some storage arrangements. There are three ways your backup data can be stored. Locally, Cloud, Hybrid.
We can store your data on a local device like a Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit, or USB drive. This needs to be sized appropriately so it is big enough to hold more than one copy of all of your computers data.
Pros. Local backup is fast, so it can operate continuously. You will never miss an accidentally deleted file again.
Cons. Local is not safe, if your premises are compromised so is your backup. Not good if there is a fire or theft of your equipment.
Using a remote internet based storage provider, your data is encrypted copied into their data centre.
Pros. Remote storage is off site so your data is very secure. This is great for a backup solution as it doesn't matter about the fire.
Cons. It consumes some of your internet allowance and takes up bandwidth. You pay for your internet and for the storage. It is also only as fast as your internet connection, so it can take some time to get your backups done, as well as taking time to down load the data if something happens.
Hybrid backup is a mix of both, your PCs backup to a local storage system, then off to the cloud storage. The mix of local / cloud backup is configured with how often the data moves off site to provide the best coverage for your needs at the time.
Pros. The initial backup is fast, so you can have continuous backups happening, nightly backups can be moved off site when the internet is not busy. This is the best of both worlds.
Cons. It consumes some of your internet allowance and takes up bandwidth. You pay for your internet and for the remote storage
OchreOnline Cloud Backup uses a Hybrid Storage system.
Our cloud storage provider BACKBLAZE recently published a great little article about NAS storage.

"Historically speaking, the easier backup is, the better chance it’ll actually get done. We know no simpler, more foolproof online backup service than Backblaze."
